Agent-Based Simulation of Episodic Criminal Behaviour
نویسندگان
چکیده
Criminal behaviour often involves a combination of physical, mental, social and environmental (multi-)agent aspects, such as neurological deviations, hormones, arousal, (non)empathy, targets and social control. To study the dynamics of these aspects, this paper contributes a dynamical agent-based approach for analysis and simulation of criminal behaviour. It involves dynamically generated desires and beliefs in opportunities within the social environment, both based on literature on criminal behaviour. The approach is illustrated for the case of an Intermittent Explosive Disorder.

Agent-based Simulation of Social Learning in Criminology
Criminal behaviour exists in many variations, each with its own cause. A large group of offenders only shows criminal behaviour during adolescence. This kind of behaviour is largely influenced by the interaction with others, through social learning. This paper contributes a dynamical agent-based approach to simulate social learning of adolescence-limited criminal behaviour, illustrated for a sm...
متن کاملAssessing Elements of Crime Based on an Agent Simulation of a Street Robbery
Agent-based simulation is a useful tool in terms of assessing human behaviour under the criminal law. We developed a street robbery scenario generator with elements of a criminal law expert system to provide a tool for better understanding complex criminal matters.
متن کاملIntegration of Biological, Psychological, and Social Aspects in Agent-Based Simulation of a Violent Psychopath
In the analysis of criminal behaviour, a combination of biological, psychological and social aspects may be taken into account. Dynamical modelling methods developed in recent years often address these aspects separately. This paper contributes an agent-based modelling approach for behaviour of a certain criminal type, the violent psychopath, in which these aspects are integrated in one dynamic...
متن کاملAgent-based simulation of the spatial dynamics of crime: on the interplay between criminal hot spots and reputation
An important challenge within the field of Criminology is to investigate the spatio-temporal dynamics of crime. Typical questions in this area are how the behaviour of offenders, targets, and guardians, and the emergence and displacement of criminal hot spots can be predicted. This paper presents an agent-based simulation model that can be used as an experimental tool to address such questions....
متن کاملCaught in the Act: Investigating Crime by Agent-Based Simulation
In the analysis of criminal behaviour, a combination of biological, psychological and social aspects may be taken into account. Dynamical modelling methods developed in recent years often address biological, psychological, or social dynamical systems separately. This paper makes the first step in the development of an agent-based modelling approach for criminal behaviour in which these aspects ...
